Sites like MySpace, facebook, digg etc. Well firstly these sites are excellent for keeping up with friends and family and you can make lots of new friends as well!.
Secondly these sites are great for letting people know about something – maybe a news story that you’ve heard or where you can find that much wanted gift cheaper than anywhere else. Some of the sites are very informative and are a wealth of knowledge.
Most people love to customize their profile and user pages. This makes you stand out from the crowd and get noticed. There are lots of sites that offer various layouts. For family friendly layouts for kids etc I find cute backgrounds are a winner. There are pink hearts, glittery stars, cool sparkle backgrounds and even hand wriiten grafitti style ones – definately cute backgrounds for everyone exhists.
You can also jazz up your site even further with glittery text and sparkly phrases. Let your personality shine through so that when visitors reach your page they get a glimpse into the type of person you are.
Parents if you are letting children go on these sites always make sure you discuss web safety practices. Communicate, and talk to your child about the potential on-line dangers. Keep the computer in a room used by everyone instead of a child bedroom. Alwaysa make sure you set these account up with them so that you know the passwords etc and can monitor what they are doing and who they are communicating with. Spend time with them on these sites and find out what their favorite things to do on the sites are. Always use and parental controls offered to block certain content etc.
Go and find cute backgrounds with them and help them to edit their profile and make it safe for them to enjoy sharing music etc with only their friends.
